Directions

Detailed directions to our exhibition venue are shown below but if you just want to download a copy of the individual documents, please select from…

By Train

The nearest station to the venue is Oxford Road. If possible, buy a ticket to Oxford Road rather than Manchester Piccadilly. If your service is a local one which terminates at Piccadilly, it is quicker to exit the station and walk to the venue rather than catch a connection to Oxford Road. If you are travelling from the south on a service which terminates at Piccadilly, it is easier to change at Stockport for a direct service to Oxford Road (there is less walking between the platforms), but check that your rail ticket is valid.

Many train services which don’t terminate at Piccadilly go on to call at Oxford Road, eg, those operated by East Midlands Trains, Transport for Wales, Transpennine Express and Northern. Some services into Manchester Victoria operated by Transpennine Express continue onwards to call at Oxford Road. Check that your rail ticket is valid.

The pedestrian route from Oxford Road station is about 650m, from Piccadilly station the pedestrian route is about 1000m.

NOTE: We Will NOT be operating a shuttle bus between Piccadilly station and the venue. However, a black cab from the Fairfield Street exit of the station to the venue should cost about £5.

By Road

The Sugden Centre is in the centre of Manchester and easily reached by any of the arterial routes into the city.  The venue is almost underneath the Mancunian Way flyover, part of the Inner Ring Road.

Driving into the centre of a large city is rarely pleasant, especially if you are unfamiliar with the area, and parking is always expensive.  We urge our visitors to consider using one of the 79 Park-and-Ride schemes operated by Transport for Greater Manchester.  Full details can be found at https://tfgm.com/public-transport/park-and-ride

The map above shows the 23 largest Park-and-Ride schemes, each one with space for over 100 cars.

By car

There is no public parking at the venue itself, but there are two multi storey carparks nearby.  The recommended one is at the Manchester Aquatics Centre, 370m away.  The alternative is the Circle Square NCP which is significantly more expensive.

The one way system around the venue is complex with a vigorously enforced bus-only scheme on Oxford Road.

On no account use the B5117, Oxford Road between its junctions with Hathersage Road and with Charles Street.  You are very likely to receive a fine.

Note: If arriving by taxi, ask for “Sidney Street, M1 7HB”, rather than “Sugden Centre” – you would end up on the wrong side of the building!

By Bus

The exhibition venue is served by 34 different bus routes, 22 of which have stops within 100m of the entrance (shown by the purple circle). Many of these bus routes are served by one of the park and ride schemes.  https://tfgm.com/public-transport/park-and-ride

Full details of all bus services can be found on Transport for Greater Manchester’s website.  https://tfgm.com/public-transport/bus

By Tram

If you are travelling into Manchester by the Bury line, or by the Ashton-under-Lyne line from the Ashton direction, get off at Piccadilly.  For all other routes, get off at St Peter’s Square.

From St Peter’s Square, walk down the left hand side of Oxford Street towards the railway viaduct and Mancunian Way flyover which you can see in the distance.  Shortly after passing under the Mancunian Way, take the first left turn into Sidney Street.  Follow the street as it bends to the right.  The entrance to the Sugden Centre is now in front of you.

Here is route map of the entire tram system.

By Air

On arrival at Manchester International Airport follow the signs for the train station.  There are about 6 trains per hour to Manchester Oxford Road, which is the nearest station to the venue.  The journey time varies between13 and 25 minutes.   Although it is also possible to take a tram from the airport to St Peter’s Square, the journey time is over 55mins.
