Especially for the children!
We’ve catered for the experienced finescale modeller and for the general public, but we haven’t forgotten the children. There are lots of things for them to do – and remember, they get in for free! (Maximum of three children with each paying adult)
Danny’s Zoo needs help in moving the visitors around the zoo, passing under the Penguin Hill, through the Big Cat House and across the Zebra Meadow. You’ll find this layout in Room 8
Also in Room 8 you will find Dufton Road. This layout is more sited for older children and shows a diesel depot in about 1990.
In Room 2, children will have a chance to operate (under supervision) the trains and lorries on the MMRS layout Barton Road.
At least two of the other visiting layouts have said that they sometimes allow visitors to drive their trains if they ask nicely! If the operator is standing in front of the layout it’s worth asking!
In Room 1 there is a display of clever electronic control organised by the MERG group. They are very keen for you to have a go.
There are several other demonstrations, eg scenery, plastic kit construction and 3D printing, which are suitable for both adults and children.
To enter, children have to find the answers to some questions about the things at the exhibition. The best 20 answer sheets will go into a draw at 3pm on Sunday and the lucky winner will go home with an early Christmas present!
And finally, when your parents want a sit down and a cup of tea, there are two areas in the cafe and restaurant with a supply of toys and drawing materials for you to use!
(This is NOT a creche, children must be supervised by their carers at all times.)
