We aim to provide an exhibition with something to interest all the family and have listened carefully to the feedback from our visitors.
This year we offer:
Quality catering – more variety in two refreshment areas offering both snacks and plated meals – breakfasts, lunches & afternoon tea.
Quality layouts, most of them featured in the modelling press.
Variety – twenty quality layouts in a total of 10 different scale/gauge combinations based on prototypes in five countries which range in date from 1900 to the present day.
Convenience – 75% of our visitors travel by public transport. Piccadilly station, Metrolink trams and Chorlton Street coach station all within 3 minutes walk and bus-stops for 35 services are within six minutes walk.
Things To See And Do!
As well as nineteen top class layouts and a host of traders, we offer:
Demonstrations of traditional modelling techniques
Hands-on electronics with the Model Electronic Railway Group (MERG)
A free Treasure Hunt for Children with the chance to win a valuable prize!
An art exhibition
Demonstrations of scenic modelling
Information stands from two heritage railways
THREE layouts for the children to drive their own trains, featuring both well-known engines from books and TV, and “real” model trains
A special Christmas High Tea menu
Junior Junction and Toytown Terminus – designated sections in the two catering areas with toys for the children, giving parents a chance for a sit down and a bit of peace!
(NB This is NOT a creche – children must be supervised by an adult.)
